What is Get Fit Lake?
Get Fit Lake is a dynamic association of local organizations committed to the health and wellness of children. Our mission is to increase awareness within our community of the health concerns associated with obesity emphasizing fitness, nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

Why was Get Fit Lake created?
Get Fit Lake was developed as a sub-committee of the Comprehensive Health Care Committee to focus on childhood obesity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 9 million children between the ages of 6 and 19 are overweight or obese; a number that has tripled since 1980. The CDC also reports that an additional 15% are at risk for becoming overweight. As such, Get Fit Lake’s goal is to make children’s health and wellness a major priority in the Lake County community. Our approach is to provide resources for parents, educators and community members to utilize with the intent to promote physical fitness and proper nutrition. In response, getfitlake.org was created to serve as our #1 resource for local events and health information.
